CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
For an organisation to be truly sustainable it must firmly embed sustainability into all its decision making processes. This can take a lot of time and commitment. Lots of organisations report on CSR performance and confess to having robust systems in place, but when you dig down into the detail, a lot are very qualitative and lack substance. A good corporate responsibility framework allows an organisation to:
- Identify which issues are truly material (i.e. which issues are really important)
- Define and embed its ethics and sustainability policies into all working practices
- Measure and monitor the performance of specific initiatives in a quantitative rather than qualitative manner
- Set real and measurable targets for improvement
- Aid business resource and process efficiency
- Benefit from publicity and brand strengthening. This could be in terms of:
- Reputational enhancement
- Interest from more 'green' or 'socially responsible' prospective students
- Attracting interest from businesses with similar values
- Achieve better 'buy in' to sustainability initiatives by staff and students
We have considerable experience of working with both public and private sector organizations on a range of sustainability and corporate responsibility initiatives and can help you develop a Corporate Social Responsibility regime that reflects the true values and sustainability commitment of your organisation.
